Opportunity within Planning and Development at Birmingham City Council.

Birmingham is changing ……. and fast!  The second City is booming with a whole range of ambitious development and regeneration initiatives.   Are you interested in helping to shape our City for future generations?

We are looking to appoint to a development management role within the Planning and Development Department.  You will be working for one of the country's largest planning authorities within a can-do Directorate that combines a range of service areas.

The Principal Planning Officer role provides the opportunity to work in Development Management in one of the City's Area Teams, determining a diverse portfolio of planning applications and appeal work.  As part of the role you oversee the work of Senior Planning Officers, ensure that the service meets performance targets, provide high standards of customer service and ensure good quality development is delivered.

You will need to hold a degree in Planning or a related discipline, be a Corporate Member of the RTPI and have substantial experience.

To apply, please complete online application form via WM Jobs.

For any informal enquires please contact Peter Barton via email at peter.barton@birmingham.gov.uk

Interviews for this post will take place virtually via video conferencing. Shortlisted candidates will be provided with further information

We welcome applications from people with caring responsibilities and flexible working options will be considered.

Right to work in the UK documentation will be fully checked for all applicants.  All non UK applicants are required to apply for a Certificate of Sponsorship from Birmingham City Council and must be approved by the UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) before any employment offer can be confirmed. Unless they are an EEA or Swiss citizen that was already employed by BCC prior to 31 December 2020, then they will need to apply to the EU Settlement Scheme (EUSS) instead
