Job Details

Dudley Educational Psychology Service is part of Family Solutions within The People Directorate in Dudley. There is also a team of counsellors who are part of EPS.  The aims of the service are to apply educational psychology to remove barriers to learning and promote the emotional health and well-being of the children and young people within Dudley Borough.  We are a lively and dedicated group of educational psychologists and range from the newly qualified to very experienced EPs and we also have trainee EPs.

The service continues to be core to Services in Dudley and has played a pivotal role in developing new systems for an integrated services approach, person-centred planning, the EHCP and the Local Offer. We are maintaining and developing our statutory and local authority role and, as a consequence, are extending our service to preschool children and to the 16-25 years age group.

Further, we have a very successful and dynamic traded section which serves schools, colleges and other LA services across the borough. We offer a wide range of work from training, research and strategic work to individual assessments and therapeutic interventions.  Some schools buy back large amounts of EP time (e.g. ½ day per week or fortnight) and this offers EPs the opportunity to develop meaningful and innovative relationships with schools. The EPS is also commissioned to support a number of projects to support vulnerable CYP across the borough.

The service is committed to ensuring that EP practice is current and incorporates recent research and new developments. Hence there is a broad CPD programme and regular supervision that mirrors service aims.

Hours:  As and When required

Salary: £41659 pro rata per annum

This is an exciting opportunity for experienced EPs who are able to offer their time on a casual basis.  Dudley Educational Psychology Service is a dynamic and expanding service and the team is committed, highly skilled and very supportive of each other.  There is a full range of opportunity for CPD.

Dudley EPS continues to have a core statutory and local authority role, and the service has been pivotal in developing processes for the move to the EHCP. EPs will continue to be involved with children and young people with EHCPs at every stage including the pre-assessments and transition reviews. In the short term the EPS needs Casual EPs to support statutory assessments and additional traded work.

The office is located at the Mere Education Centre, Stourbridge. Agile working allows EPs flexibility but the EP offices are frequented regularly ensuring access to peer supervision.  Dudley is a small geographic borough and EP work across the area.

Applications are welcome for those who wish to work on a casual/ temporary basis
