Who you’ll be
Across Staffordshire County Council, we hold true to three values: to be ambitious, empowering and courageous. So as our new Workforce Information Officer, you’ll need to be:
- Ambitious for your team, and in everything you want to achieve
- Empowering in the support you provide your colleagues
- Courageous in your attitude, ready to tackle any challenge
If you’re someone who loves digging deep into data and works to the very highest standards, then you might be exactly who we’re looking for. Take pride – and take us forward.
What you’ll do
1. Bring a focus on quality
The People Services team focus on growing the right culture, support and skills across Staffordshire County Council. It sees us deliver all kinds of people-related programmes and initiatives, calling upon the talents of many different teams. In this role, you’ll support our wider HR system and process improvement projects by ensuring the quality of our workforce data, and by providing accurate, timely reports.
With your finger on the pulse of what’s happening around the Council, you’ll maintain the organisational management structure on our HR system by collating, checking and processing any management changes. Always on the look-out for ways we can improve, you’ll also support on process reviews so that our systems and processes are the best they can be.
2. Provide expert support and advice
Thorough and detail-oriented, you’ll be responsible for any workforce systems administration and making sure all our data is accurate. Where you spot any gaps or issues, you’ll dig a bit deeper and gather missing data; it’s how you’ll put quality solutions in place and improve our datasets.
Put simply, you’ll know our workforce data inside and out. So when you receive ad hoc requests from across the Council, you’ll make informed, confident suggestions on the most appropriate data and presentation format. At the same time, you’ll help with large-scale data validation exercises – such as pay awards and annual leave entitlements. Plus, you’ll be there to support colleagues in their own use of workforce systems.
3. Provide an accountable service
As a Council, we need to provide an accountable, responsible service that works with and builds the trust of people across Staffordshire. Ultimately though, we can only encourage accountability if we’re accountable ourselves.
You’ll bring that accountability at the highest level and embody our values in everything you do. Whether it’s championing best practice in workforce systems or helping colleagues to build up their skills, you’ll be someone we can always rely on . As a self-starter, you’ll seek out ways to boost your own learning and development – and encourage others to do the same.

- Relevant degree-level qualification or equivalent experience
