UPR +1 SEN/2 SEN points

0.6fte permanent position

We are seeking to appoint a Teacher of the Visually Impaired, as a permanent 0.6 position from February 1st 2021 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The successful candidate will work within the Sensory Inclusion Service, which offers services to sensory impaired children and young people as part of Joint Arrangements between Telford & Wrekin and Shropshire Councils.

Ideally, the successful candidate will hold the mandatory QTVI qualification although consideration would be given to a qualified, outstanding mainstream teacher committed to undertaking the mandatory training as a QTVI whilst in post. This would be self-funded although some time would be given for study.

A minimum of 3 years recent mainstream experience is essential.

Experience of supporting visually impaired children, their families and educational settings in a peripatetic support role is desirable. The appointed candidate will join a team of Teachers of the Visually Impaired and allied professionals working with sensory impaired children and young people with a range of sensory, learning and communication needs.

The role of Teacher of the Visually Impaired requires excellent interpersonal skills, flexibility and the ability to work independently as well as contributing to the wider team within the Sensory Inclusion Service. The ability to be well organised and work to deadlines is essential.

Please note employees who are at risk will be considered first for this position.  Only if an appointment is not made will other candidates be considered.

We are committed to equality and diversity. Posts working with children or vulnerable groups will be subject to an appropriate criminal records check.

Sorry but CVs will not be accepted.

Due to the nature of this role you must be able to travel independently to meet the requirements of the post. A full driving licence and access to a vehicle is required.

Appointment would be subject to successful references and an enhanced DBS check.

Closing date: 24th January 2021
