Could you be the ideal candidate?
We are looking to appoint a well organised and highly motivated DT Technician, to join our dynamic and expanding Design & Technology department. In February 2018, we were graded Good by Ofsted.
Here at Saltley Academy, we have a large Design and Technology Department, compromising of 6 different members of staff and high-quality facilities on offer to both our pupils and staff. The Design and Technology has two refurbished Design and Technology workshops with updated equipment including a new laser machine. There is also 1 Graphics
classroom with plenty of CAD/CAM equipment in there and a large 3D printer. Our school also has 2 newly refurbished and modern Food Technology rooms and 1 Textiles and Child Development classroom.
The successful candidate will need to be able to communicate effectively to support students and teaching staff with practical tasks in DT. You will need to have excellent organisational skills and have the ability to work effectively as part of a busy team. All applicants must be numerate and literate and educated to GCSE standard with an A* - C in English.
1.0 Job Purpose
1.1 Provide support to teaching staff and students in all areas of the Design and Technology Department.
1.2 Assist with the display and maintenance of students work around the Design and Technology Department.
1.3 Maintain equipment and teaching areas, in order to ensure a safe working environment in all areas of the DT department.
1.4 Support the practical and technical aspects of the various curriculum areas by preparing, organising and managing the resources required for creative practical activities.
1.5 Maintain the high standards of safety in each of the workshops, as well as support and resource lessons in Design & Technology Department.
1.6 Work with staff and pupils creatively and support good practice, in sustaining the high standards of practical work in the department.
This post is covered by Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) and therefore the ability to speak fluent and spoken English is an essential requirement for this role.
