37 hours per week fixed term 2 years
The Employment Advisory Support Team is part of Telford & Wrekin Council’s Job Box offer and provides a supported employment service for people with long term health conditions and significant barriers. We support people with a range of diagnoses from Learning disability, Aspergers, Autism and Mental Ill Health some of whom may have a dual diagnosis
We provide a 1-2-1 service for customers to support them to achieve their individual education and employment goals regardless of how long that journey may take, however we use a person centred approach. We are member of the British Association of Supported Employment.
The role of the Employment Engagement Officer is a new one within the team. The aim of the role is to develop and nurture relationships with local businesses and employers to promote the disability confident agenda, develop employment leads and support employers to recruit from the widest pool of talent. The Employment Engagement Officer will work closely with the team to support them to market their customers to achieve paid employment outcomes. You will also sign post vacancies to the wider skills delivery team where appropriate.
This is an exciting opportunity that will suit someone who is outgoing and confident who can build strong professional relationships quickly and is highly motivated. The person would need to have a strong understanding of businesses and their recruitment requirements, but be passionate about employment for all. The post holder will need to be able to present well.
You will need to be creative and engaging, whilst also being tenacious and well organised. The ability to bounce back from setbacks is also a critical trait that we are looking for.
