Pastoral Support Officer, Witton Middle School

We are looking to increase the capacity of our Pastoral Team with at least one permanent role and the potential for an additional role on a fixed term basis.

We are seeking someone with proven interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with young people, combining tact, diplomacy and discretion, who is able to use a range of effective behaviour management techniques/strategies.  The successful candidate will be fully committed to promoting access and inclusion to help our pupils overcome barriers to learning to achieve their full potential.

This post will involve support for vulnerable pupils and their families, running breakfast, break and lunchtime provision as part of a team, 1-1 and group work sessions; liaising with teaching and support colleagues as well as external agencies.

If you are well organised, self-confident, enjoy working with children and as part of a team, have an absolute commitment to inclusive education and hold an NVQ L3 in childcare, health, education, social care or learning support or equivalent, we would welcome your application.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  An Enhanced DBS will be required for this position.

This post is covered by Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) and therefore the ability to speak fluent and spoken English is an essential requirement for this role

Grade:  Scale 5 (12-17) Actual Salary range £18,485 - £20,408 pa
