Head of Performing Arts – Main Teachers’ Pay Scale Full time, permanent (part time also considered) plus TLR 2.1 £2,872.89

We are seeking an experienced, qualified teacher of Performing Arts to join our school as Head of Department from April 2021.

This new post offers the successful candidate a unique opportunity to create a new curriculum which develops creativity among our young people through music/drama/creative arts via the timetable and extra-curricular activities. They will also oversee the team of peripatetic music teachers. A commitment to developing extra-curricular activities is a key aspect of the role as noted by Ofsted in 2019 "Pupils have access to a wide range of extra-curricular activities. This helps to prepare them for life in modern Britain.

The leadership team are committed to providing our students with opportunities in the creative arts sector, a field which has suffered due to the covid pandemic. The music department is a blank canvas for a specialist to develop, whereas drama is a new venture for our young people and one we would like to see grow at the school.

We are looking for a talented individual who wants to be a part of transforming education to ensure we empower our young people and develop their mind, body and spirit. You should be an experienced, effective and enthusiastic classroom teacher, specialists in one area of performing arts are welcome, with a commitment to developing other aspects through CPD. An outstanding NQT would also be considered for the post and applications are welcomed.

We are looking for a strong communicator with proven strengths in engaging with, inspiring and motivating, not just the school community, but the wider community. You should hold QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree.

Paget is a multi-ethnic, 11-18 school with excellent transport links on the edge of the Peak District located within the National Forest. We offer a positive learning ethos and a supportive staff induction programme.
