Preparation for Adulthood, Vulnerable Adults Team - Coaching and Resilience Worker

The Preparation for Adulthood Programme has a Coaching and Resilience Worker opportunity to join their teams.
Birmingham City Council with partners has embarked on an exciting and ambitious journey to develop a whole system approach to support young people transitioning into adulthood, through its Preparation for Adulthood (PFA) and For Life programme of work.
The Preparation for Adulthood Programme is based on an initial two-year proof of concept which looks to test a whole system innovative approach to transitions, focused on outcomes, earlier identification and support, strength based practice and the promotion of independence for the young person based on the principles of personalisation. This whole system approach has galvanised key partners across social care, health and education in Birmingham to work together to plan and implement the key elements of PFA which are aligned to four overarching outcomes:
- Employment, Education and Training
- Independent living and housing
- A healthy life
- Friendships, relationships and community connection
The PFA Programme is based on the development of three new services which includes a PFA Integrated Transitions Team, a Vulnerable Adults Team and a Transitions Hub.
The Vulnerable Adults Team will support the wider cohort of young people who are transitioning from the age of 14 to 30, who have multiple risk factors and without earlier intervention can spiral and fall off the proverbial ‘cliff edge’ when transitioning from Children’s Services to Adulthood and often are left with minimal or no support. The Vulnerable Adults Team will support young people who have experienced trauma to realise their aspirations linked to the overall PFA outcomes.
The Team will align closely with Children’s and Adults Safeguarding Teams, the Birmingham Children’s Trust Contextual Safeguarding Hub, the Transitions Hub and MASH as part of the wider offer to vulnerable young people who may have experienced child sexual exploitation, county lines, drugs and alcohol and domestic abuse. The Team will again have a ‘mix’ of skills from across the system and will have a focus on mental health, homelessness and reducing criminality.
The next stage of the Plan is to recruit a Coaching and Resilience Worker to the team who are forward thinking and enthusiastic and will step up and:
- Demonstrate a dynamic, creative and innovative approach to your work, whilst putting the young person and their family at the centre
- Have the ability to think and step outside the box
- Demonstrate a strong partnership ethos
- Think outside traditional silo’s, think ‘whole system’ and ‘champion’ natural leadership
- Demonstrate a strong collaborative approach, respecting difference
- Navigate across the whole system to acquire accurate and top-quality information that supports the young person and or their family
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team with diverse skills and experience
- Demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skills
- Will bring a range of skills and an established knowledge base that will further enrich our Team
- A recognised qualification in health/social care, community or family work
