Permanent Posts & 4 x 12-month fixed term posts (with possibility of extension)

This is a very exciting time to be joining Redditch Borough Council as we embark on a journey of transformation and improvement across Housing and Neighbourhood Services.

We are now recruiting Housing Revenue Officers to a newly forming Housing Revenue team within the Housing Service. We are looking for knowledgeable professionals who are enthusiastic and are passionate about the customer, putting them at the heart of all activities that ensure all the Councils housing related income is paid in full and on time.

You will be a specialist in account management and arrears / debt recovery and proactive in making early interventions, giving appropriate advice and support from a range of sources to maximise income, prevent escalation of arrears and ensuring that legal action is the last resort. However, where legal action becomes necessary, you will have the confidence and character to take fair and robust enforcement action in accordance with our policies.

The successful candidate will be required to have excellent understanding and experience of operating income collection and debt recovery processes for the full range of Housing Revenue streams across relevant tenure types. You will also be able to demonstrate you implement protocols and have up to date knowledge of the welfare system. You will be methodical and thorough in your approach to work and have effective listening, communication, and negotiation skills, as well as being a creative problem solver who puts the customer first, while balancing the needs of the service.

The closing date for receipt of completed applications is Monday 1st February 2021.

Interviews will be held by Skype or Teams during week commencing 8th February 2021.

If you require further information please contact Cassandra Lewington, Housing Revenue Manager cassandra.lewington@bromsgroveandredditch.gov.uk

This post is exempt under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of criminal records via the Disclosure and Barring Service before the appointment is confirmed. This will include details of cautions, reprimands, or final warnings, as well as convictions.

Temporary workers (matrix) can apply for this post if they have worked for either Bromsgrove District Council or Redditch Borough Council for 12 weeks or more.

If you do not hear from us within four weeks of the closing date, you should assume that unfortunately your application was not successful on this occasion.

We are an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all Sections of the Community, particularly those that are under-represented.
