Adult Social Care - Social Worker (Mental Health Team)
Salary: G9 £33,448 - £38,506 per annum
Hours: 37 per week
Contract: Full time, permanent

This is an exciting time to join Walsall Council’s Adult Mental Health Team.

We are a dynamic, supportive team working with adults experiencing mental health difficulties, their carers and families. We support people from age 18 years onwards and work with children’s services supporting young people with mental health difficulties from 16/17 years transitioning to adulthood. We work closely with health partners, commissioners and other external agencies in order to provide an integrated approach to supporting individuals with their recovery and well-being.

Who we are and what we do
The team is made up of Team Manager, Advanced Practitioners, Senior Practitioners, Social Workers, Social Care Facilitators and Support Workers. We undertake assessments, support planning and reviews under the Care Act 2014  and undertake our duties under the Mental Health Act in assessing and supporting people subject to section 117 aftercare and in completing reports for the Mental Health Tribunals.

Who we are looking for to join our team
We are seeking Social Workers who are skilled in carrying out strengths based assessments and support planning under the Care Act 2014. You will have skills in undertaking comprehensive safeguarding enquiries, risk assessments and mental capacity assessments and have experience of working with health partners, voluntary and community organisations. You will need to demonstrate significant experience of mental health work and a working knowledge and understanding of the Care Act 2014, Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act.

We are looking for enthusiastic and committed professionals to join our team; to help shape and deliver our service, and contribute to the development of strengths based practice.  If you are enthusiastic about working with people to promote independence and supporting people to lead fulfilling lives we invite you to apply.

What we offer you
In return, we offer a supportive environment, where every level of the organisation is committed to ongoing practice and professional development; and is committed to improving outcomes for the citizens of Walsall.

These posts are covered by the Code of Practice on the English Language Fluency Duty for public sector workers.  We are committed to equality and diversity and welcome applications from a diverse range of candidates.

If you would like to discuss further, then please contact Beverley Wright, Mental Health Manager on 07795 800425.
