Service Manager – SEND Assessment, Planning and Provision
Salary – Grade 10 £57,977 - £60,969
We are recruiting a Service Manager for SEND Assessment, Planning and Provision to join the Inclusion and Empowerment Service leadership team.
Ensuring that all children and young people get the best possible start in life is central to the City of Wolverhampton’s vision for the future. In 2020 we launched our new SEND Strategy, which sets the ambition for Wolverhampton to be an inclusive city where we work with children and young people with SEND and their families to enable and empower them to lead a good quality life and achieve their potential.
In the last year we have brought together teams that support vulnerable learners and children and young people with SEND into one Inclusion and Empowerment Service, which includes: SEND early identification and support (early years, sensory inclusion, specialist teachers); SEND statutory assessment and review team (SENDSTART); specialist SEND commissioning; educational psychology; and vulnerable learners (virtual school, education welfare, exclusions).
Reporting to the Head of Service, the Service Manager provide leadership for the SENDSTART and specialist commissioning teams, and will be responsible for:
- enabling the Council to fulfil its statutory duties in relation to identification, assessment, planning and review for children and young people (0-25) with special educational needs and/or disabilities;
- ensuring that children and young people with an education, health and care (EHC) plan access provision that meets their needs and achieves outcomes; and
- ensuring an effective strategic approach to commissioning, planning and brokerage of SEND provision, both within the Council and through joint commissioning with health and other partners.
The successful candidate will need to be an individual who is a proven, effective manager, with significant experience in relation to statutory assessment and review processes for children and young people with SEND. You will need to be knowledgeable about the commissioning cycle and able to work with a range of stakeholders to ensure the right provision is available for our children and young people. You must be committed to co-production and working with families and partners to achieve positive outcomes.
This is an exciting time to progress your career with City of Wolverhampton Council, where there is a clear vision, strong partnership and shared commitment to continuing to improve services and outcomes in relation to SEND.
