Job Details

These posts are fixed term for 12 months.

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic person to join our public health team.

Health protection is the key area of experience and knowledge we will be looking for in candidates. Recent experience of dealing with the current pandemic would be of value, as would experience of general outbreak management.

Your main function will be to support our response to the current COVID-19 pandemic. You might be supporting our teams managing outbreaks in a variety of settings (e.g. care homes, schools and workplaces); assisting our testing programme; helping with the support public health is providing to the vaccination programme; and/or working with our contract tracing team. There is also a daily COVID enquires email inbox that you will help manage (probably a day a week) – there is a team on each day and training will be given so you will always have support.

Whatever area you end up working in, you will be part of a larger team and your role will be a well-defined support role with no managerial responsibilities. The areas described above are all led by Consultants in Public Health or Nurse Consultants.

As this is a 12-month post, depending on how the pandemic develops, there may be opportunities in the second half of the contract to get involved in a wider range of non-COVID public health work.

You must hold a Master's level education in Public Health / Infection Prevention / Risk Management related degree OR Substantial experience of working in an area of Health Protection Infection Prevention & Control

Currently the whole team is working remotely, and you will be expected to work from home also.

For an informal discussion, please contact Paul Fisher paul_fisher@sandwell.gov.uk or 07963 558103
