About Us and The Role

As we move into the next phase of COVID-19 management, local authorities across Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire have come together to develop a local plan to tackle local outbreaks the virus.

Nationally, we are all following Government guidance to stay safe and manage COVID-19. As we begin to return to workplaces, shops and spending time with our families and friends it is important that we all continue to follow guidance to protect ourselves and the people around us.

In Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire we have developed a detailed outbreak control plan to reduce the number of community cases of COVID-19 cases to zero in the shortest time possible, and reduce its impact on our most vulnerable residents. See staysafecsw.info

The plan includes 8 key priorities:

  • Community engagement to build trust and participation
  • Preventing infection
  • High risk settings and communities
  • Vulnerable people
  • Testing capacity
  • Contact tracing
  • Data surveillance and integration
  • Deployment of capabilities including enforcement

It describes how we plan to identify, contain and control coronavirus, reduce the spread of the virus and save lives. It will play an increasingly important part in the governments wider strategy to save lives, protect the health and care system as we start to move out of lockdown.

We are looking for individuals to join our COVID-19 Prevention and Response team to help support the county, businesses and residents to tackle the virus and return to normal life, as soon as possible.

We currently have a full-time position that will join a multi-disciplinary COVID-19 prevention and response team (matrix team), formed of public health, regulatory services, infection control and business intelligence officers.  This team is being newly established to enable Warwickshire to effectively fight the virus, working closely with partners in our District and Borough Councils, and in Coventry and Solihull.

The role will:

Be a key public health responder as part of a new COVID-19 prevention and response team supporting local COVID-19 outbreak management, which will require managing day to day general COVID-19 enquiries, notifications about single cases and outbreaks, as well as being an active member of Incident Management team meetings and undertaking contact tracing. The post holder will be the key public health leads and first responders to enquiries/cases and outbreaks for the team.

Will involve closely with a range of council partners as part of working as part of the Coventry, Warwickshire and Solihull Beacon. The post holder and wider team will also work closely with Public Health England, NHS and Voluntary and Community Sector partners. and a wide range of external organisations – schools/early years settings, workplaces, care settings, residential settings etc.

Will provide advice, support and information on processes supporting the implementation of the Local Outbreak Control Plan and Test and Trace Programme. This includes leading on preventative activity as well as response activity linked with the outbreak plan.

For further details please see the Job Description and Person Specification

The role will require the post holder to take part in an on-call rota which will run 8am to 8pm 7 days per week (hours will be regularly reviewed).
