Team Manager – Youth Justice Service - Ref: CH25420

£41,466- £46,382 per annum

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced practitioner to join Walsall Youth Justice Service as a Team Manager.

What do we do?

Walsall Youth Justice Service is a multi-agency partnership service established under S.37 of the Crime and Disorder Act with the principle aims of reducing offending and re-offending of young people. We work with children and young people on the periphery of the youth justice system to prevent them from becoming first time entrants, with those young people involved with the Police and receiving out of court disposals, and young people convicted in Court. We work with young people in the secure estate on remand and sentenced to custody and we are responsible for the resettlement of young people back into the community. The YJS also oversee services to victims of youth crime, including restorative justice interventions.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for candidates who are dedicated, positive and passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people involved in or on the periphery of the youth justice system in Walsall. The right person needs to join a close-knit restorative team, promote inclusion and manage and support practitioners through change and challenges whilst driving up standards. We want our staff and management teams to reflect the diversity of the communities we serve. To this end we positively welcome applications from black and minority ethnic people (Section 158 of the Equality Act 2010 applies). However, appointment will be entirely on merit.

Candidates must have a relevant qualification, have significant experience of working with children and young people and of complex risk management. We are looking for an individual with the ability to manage multi-agency services for children and families, and have knowledge of best practice for children who offend and trauma informed approaches.

We are proud to be pushing for better outcomes for young people and families in Walsall and we share the WR4C ‘Walsall Right for Children’ vision. We hope you can join us in this journey.

For further information please contact Phil Rutherford- YJS Strategic Lead at Philip.rutherford@walsall.gov.uk
