Job Details

The Emergency Out of Hours team is a city-wide service which operates outside normal working hours to provide an immediate response when a person has a presenting need which cannot remain safely unmet until the next working day.  

The Emergency Out of Hours Team aims to assess the needs of vulnerable individuals, adults, children and their families and, where necessary, offer temporary services to support. Anyone can access this service who has concerns about a child or adult who may be at immediate and serious risk.

The ideal candidate will possess highly developed specialist knowledge of social work practice in Adults' Services and be registered with Social Work England. Social Workers and must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience to work in the team as they will need a level of robust expertise and the ability to make difficult decisions with limited support at night.

The service operates outside normal office hours, at the following times:

• Monday – Thursday 5:15pm – 08:45am

• Friday – 4:15pm – 08:45am

• Saturday, Sunday & Bank Holidays - 9:00am – 9:00am (24 hours)

An out of hours employee will need to work a shift pattern to provide a 7 day service,  hours worked between 8pm and 6am (night working), when this is part of the employee's normal working week, will attract their normal rate of pay plus a third for the eligible hours.
