What is the job role?

We are currently working with our partner organisation Carers Trust, Heart Of England to recruit a Young Adult Carers Support Officer to join their Coventry team, on an initial 18 month fixed term contract basis.

Carers Trust Heart of England’s aim is to support carers and their families by providing the highest possible quality services, including, information, advice & support and enabling carers to have a life alongside their caring role.

The successful candidate will join a dynamic and busy team supporting young adult carers across Coventry.

The role

Carers Trust Heart of England aims to improve the identification and support of carers in the community across Coventry. Statutory agencies in Health and Social Care, Education and Employment Services are ideally positioned to play a collaborative role in identifying and initiating support for carers and their families.

We are looking for a Young Adult Carer Support Officer to develop and deliver this work in partnership with our Young Carers Service based within our Wellbeing Services. The Young Carers Service is an exciting, Coventry wide programme, led by Carers Trust Heart of England, making it as easy as possible for young adult carers to access the support they need.

You will have a working knowledge of the Health and Social Care, employment and benefits systems, and the challenges faced by young adult carers. You will be key in supporting young adult carers who need support to access employment, education and training on top of managing their caring role. Young adult carers often experience a completely unique set of challenges and have often fallen out of the education/employment system due to the strains of their caring role.

You will have experience and knowledge of supporting young people between the ages of 16- and 25-years old who are not in education, employment or training (NEETS), skills development and developing networks of peer support.
