Full-Time: 35 hours
Location: Worcester

A vacancy has arisen for a confident and experienced individual to join the County Council’s Public Health team. This role will contribute to ensuring that the Council meets its community safety duties under s17 Crime and Disorder Act and supports strategic partnership working across Worcestershire, to reduce crime and disorder.
The key responsibilities of the post are to develop and implement strategic community safety plans at county and local level, working with statutory organisations and key stakeholders, including the West Mercia Police and Crime Commissioner. You will support the work of the Worcestershire Safer Communities Board and some of its key subgroups, representing the Council at Community Safety Partnerships and other key bodies. Working together with an Advanced Public Health Practitioner (Community Safety), you will take responsibility for specific areas of work which currently include reducing offending and violence, domestic abuse and Preventing Violent Extremism. There will be a requirement to maintain a detailed knowledge of new legislation, guidance and best practice relating to community safety; assist in developing new polices and approaches; provide briefings and effective communications and to work and support internal colleagues and a range of statutory and voluntary sector agencies.
The current job description sets out generic Public Health responsibilities, but for clarity, the post requires an expertise and experience in community safety/criminal justice and strategic partnership working.
We are therefore looking for someone who has appropriate and relevant experience and knowledge of community safety/criminal justice or related fields.
If you would like some further clarification of the role, please contact Tim Rice on 01905 843107 for an informal discussion or email trice@worcestershire.gov.uk
