Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards Administrator

Salary:  £20,344- £22,911 per annum

 37 Hours per week-Temporary fixed term initially for 12 months

Secondment Opportunity, Part time hours available

The team’s Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards responsibilities are about ensuring that vulnerable adults who lack capacity to consent but need to be accommodated under care and treatment regimes that may have the effect of depriving them of their liberty have their best interests protected in accordance with the Mental Capacity Act 2005 Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards Code of Practice.

The successful applicant will be required to demonstrate effective team working skills and a commitment to the work of the section, the work of which is governed by the need to adhere to strict timescales.

The Duties of the Post

The main duties of the role of Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards Administrator function within the Legal Services Unit (LSU) include:

  1. Responsibility for the administration of Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards requests ensuring statutory timescales are met and are compliant with the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards Code of Practice.
  2. Support and liaising with Managing Authorities and the NHS to ensure the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards application process is followed. Advise Managing Authorities on the completion of Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards Authorisation Request forms to ensure the quality of the information meets the guidance in the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards code of practice.
  3. Good written and oral communication skills at all levels – this post will involve liaison with internal/external Professional Organisations, fieldwork staff, colleagues in the department and members of the public.
  4. To plan and prioritise work to meet deadlines and work effectively under pressure
