Train to be a Children’s Social Worker – make a real difference in people’s lives!

The West Midlands Step Up to Social Work Regional Partnership, consists of 12 Local Authorities: Birmingham, Coventry, Dudley, Hereford, Sandwell, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Stoke-on-Trent, Telford, Walsall, Worcestershire and Wolverhampton are offering the opportunity to become a Children’s Social Worker in 14 months.  The programme is funded by the DfE and delivered in conjunction with the University of Birmingham and the LAs, starting in January 2022 through until March 2023. 

To be eligible to apply you will need:

  • A minimum 2:1 honours degree qualification, or
  • A minimum 2:2 honours degree plus a higher degree at level 7 or above (which can include a master’s degree or a Postgraduate Certificate which must carry academic credits), and
  • At least six months experience of working with vulnerable children, young people and their families/carers, and
  • English and Maths GCSE qualifications at grade C or above, or the equivalent.

New for Cohort 7! There will be an opportunity to virtually meet with the Programme Manager and Academic Director on 1 March at 1pm – 2pm or 5pm – 6pm.  Consisting of a brief welcome and FAQs presentation and a live Q&A session.
