We are currently seeking motivated and suitably skilled individuals to join the leisure services team at Horsehay Village Golf Centre. Successful candidates will be responsible for the up keep of the golf course on a daily basis. The role requires an individual who is experienced and competent in operating cylinder and rotary mowers and other machinery. A knowledge of Golf is desirable. This six month contract is temporary to cover an anticipated increase in demand for seasonal work. April 2021 - September 2021 For further details please contact Mark Maddison (Team Leader) on 01952 382628 (mark.maddison@telford.gov.uk) or Stephanie Gilbert (Duty Officer) on 01952 382639 (stephanie.gilbert@telford.gov.uk)Key Qualifications:• Working towards pesticide spray certificates.• Certificate for driving rotary/cylinder mowers and tractorsDriving Licence (for purposes of tractor driving) Key Duties:• To ensure that the course is maintained to a high standard.• To ensure the day to day operational and maintenance tasks are carried out as directed.• To attend relevant courses, and meetings as directed by the Team Leader.• To ensure compliance with the health and safety procedures relevant to the carrying out of grounds maintenance works.• Use appropriate hand tools/pedestrian and ride on equipment to present and maintain the facilities to the highest standard.• Cut tees, greens, surrounds, fairways, rough and semi rough.• Set up the golf course, including changing holes, moving tee markers, indicating out of bounds (OOB), drop zones and maintaining hazards.• Switch and brush greens, aerating of turf, applying fertilizer, identifying and controlling weeds and pests.• Emptying of litter bins on golf course.• Assisting in collecting of range balls when required to do so (winter time).• Clearing of snow during winter time to ensure car park and footpaths are clear for public use.• Check and report to the Team Leader any problems regarding the Irrigation system.• Daily checking of machinery prior to any work commencing on that machinery. Cleaning down of machinery.• Knowledge of irrigation systems.• Identifying and controlling weeds/pests.• Experience working on golf courses.• Equipment Operator• Green keeping skills.• Excellent machinery skills• Customer communication skills.Knowledge: Knowledge of agronomy.Rules of golf relating to golf course maintenance.
