We are looking for a Schools Employability Officer to join our Employment & Skills Team to support students in years 11, 12 and 13 to continue in education or successfully move into employment or training.
- Engage with students, teachers and support staff in Solihull schools and colleges to proactively increase rates of employment, education and training amongst young people.
- Support those in vulnerable groups such as care leavers, students in PRUs and those with a Learning Disability and Mental Health conditions to identify and help remove any barriers to education and employment.
- Provide 1:1 and small group sessions to raise aspirations and build self-confidence
- Plan bespoke workshops and develop resources on topics such as apprenticeships, preparing a personal statement and interview techniques targeted at specific student groups.
- Adapt to changing circumstances e.g. delivering virtual workshops and webinars
- Keep up to date with changes in legislation, government programmes and labour market trends that relate to employment, education or training.
You will have:
A Level 4 NVQ or above in Information, Advice and Guidance, Mentoring & Coaching and / or significant practical experience
Experience of engaging with young people to provide appropriate advice and information about their future career and employment options
Knowledge of the local labour market and employment and training initiatives
Experience of preparing and delivering engaging workshops to young people
