Planning Enforcement Officer
This post is fixed term until 28/02/2022 due to Extended leave for the current officer in post.
Sandwell’s Development Planning Service is primary responsible for new development which requires planning permission and for enforcing against development which has not obtained planning permission.
We are a very busy service receiving a high volume of planning enforcement complaints which need to be investigated and appropriate action taken.
We have a great deal of interaction with both members of the public, elected members, developers and other Council Departments who wish to seek advice regarding new development proposals and breaches of planning within the Borough.
We would like to recruit a Planning Enforcement Officer on a fixed contract for 1 year (1st March 2021 to 28th February 2022). Candidates will need to possess a post graduate diploma or masters within Town Planning and ability to demonstrate enforcement planning work experience.
The Planning Enforcement Officer will be responsible for a complex caseload of planning enforcement cases. Candidates will need to have sufficient understanding and experience of planning legislation to i) identify a planning breach; ii) consider the most appropriate enforcement action; and iii) Prepare enforcement notices and any subsequent prosecutions.
- Degree in Town and Country Planning or
related degree sufficient to enable study
leading to MRTPI
- GCSE in English Language
