Permanence Coordinator

Salary Grade: PO6 £35,745-£38,890 per annum

Full-time - 37 hours per week

Would you like to work for an ‘Outstanding’ local authority – one with an established management team, committed to developing excellent practice and ensuring that our staff receive the best support we can offer?

Telford and Wrekin’s Children's Services invite you to join us in our exciting transformation journey. We are seeking someone with strong / outstanding adoption knowledge as well as ability to track and positively influence permanence for children and young people across the wider Childrens services system.

This is an exciting time for Telford and Wrekin’s Children’s Social Care as we move forward on our Transformation Journey. We are looking to recruit a Permanence Coordinator to play a central role in promoting good permanence planning and ensuring children within Children’s Social Care achieve permanency in a timely manner.

Following our successful bid to adopt the FAMILY SAFEGUARDING MODEL and MOCKINGBIRD in Telford and Wrekin, we are looking to recruit a Permanence Coordinator who is able to support the embedding of a ‘permanence culture’.

The post holder will:

• Provide consultation and guidance to front line staff with regards to permanency planning with a focus on achieving permanency.

• Refer children with adoption plans or in need of early permanence placements in a timely way to the Regional Adoption Agency and undertake regular liaison with the Regional Adoption Agency to monitor progress of children referred.

• Maintain tracking systems for Telford and Wrekin’s looked after children to monitor outcomes and challenge drift.

• Work collaboratively with the Performance Team to develop a performance dashboard and tracking system.

To excel, you’ll need a social work qualification and registration with Social Work England.

Telford and Wrekin Council takes seriously the responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of all the children and young people entrusted to our care and it is our expectation that all staff will share this commitment. We will ensure continuous development and improvement of robust recruitment processes and procedures that promote a culture of safeguarding amongst our workforce. Completion of an enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check is a requirement for working with children and young people.

This post is covered by the Code of Practice on the English Language Fluency Duty for public sector workers.
