Young Persons Pathway Worker
We are looking for an enthusiastic, organised and flexible individual to join our busy Housing and Welfare Options team, providing an effective frontline housing advice, guidance and support service for young people aged 18-21 and assisting applicants to explore a full range of housing options available to them.
You will have experience of working with vulnerable client groups, preferably young people, in a busy customer focused environment and will ideally have knowledge and experience of housing law and practice in relation to housing allocations and homelessness. The most important qualities you will possess however are; an ability to communicate with vulnerable young people and their families in challenging circumstances; a willingness to learn and develop new knowledge and skills; the flexibility to respond to the changing needs of the service and its customers; and a proactive and motivated attitude.

Fixed Term Contract for 18 months
You will be working in a busy frontline housing service and no two days will be the same. The Young Person’s Pathway Worker is a crucial role within the service, providing advice and support to young people aged 18-21 who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, with a focus on prevention and averting a crisis situation.
You will work in partnership with a range of organisations, including Children’s Services, housing associations and support agencies to offer a holistic service tailored to the young person’s individual needs.
The role operates within a large Housing Options team and you will have the support and guidance of colleagues both internally and externally to provide the best possible service for young homeless people in Worcester.
The successful applicant will be a strong team player and will have:
- Good educational standard to GCSE level, including Grade C or above in Maths & English
- Experience of working in Housing or a housing related field
- Experience of working with vulnerable client groups.
- Knowledge and understanding of a range of housing issues, including homelessness, housing allocations, supported accommodation and private rented tenancies
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a friendly, non-judgemental, approachable, sensitive and customer-oriented approach
- A proactive, motivated, flexible and positive attitude
- Excellent organisational, administrative, prioritisation and time management skills
