Please note: This is a FTC up to 2 years until 31 March 2023
Who we are
Transport for West Midlands (TfWM) plans, develops and manages an integrated transport system for the West Midlands that is reliable, affordable and accessible for all. It is the transport arm of the West Midlands Combined Authority
A standard setter in the industry, our achievements are regularly recognised nationally, most importantly as the winner of ‘City Region Authority of the Year’ in 2016, 2017 and 2019 at the National Transport Awards.
Whether it’s developing and delivering new infrastructure, collaborating on future mobility projects, operating the West Midlands Metro or helping customers to keep moving, we need creative and innovative talent to join our already excellent team and help us make a real difference to residents, businesses and visitors travelling in and around the West Midlands.
Cycling and Walking Team
The West Midlands cycling and walking network will see significant investment over the next few years and will benefit from historic levels of funding, helping to create a place that is fit for the future, safe, green and connected.
TfWM will ensure cycling and walking are the optimal travel choices for transport and for leisure. Our aim is to make the whole of the West Midlands healthier, happier, better connected and more prosperous by creating attractive urban environments in city and town centres, along key transport corridors and within our suburbs. Our ambitious plans include improved infrastructure for cyclists and pedestrians, as well as delivering supporting activities such as training and campaigns.
Who we need
Working in a fast-paced environment, you must be able to easily translate large volumes of complex information, from multiple sources, into customer friendly language, to drive behaviour change.
You will be required to work collaboratively with communication teams across the West Midlands. Being approachable, having excellent written, verbal and communication skills, as well as the ability to influence in person is an absolute must.
We need you to lead and coordinate relationships with a range of partners and stakeholders, so a calm head and ability to work effectively under pressure is essential.
You must be dynamic and a confident communicator with experience in managing complex communication and marketing campaigns, writing copy for various channels, including press releases, creating content for marketing and social media channels and engaging communities via traditional and digital media.
With huge investment in cycle infrastructure over the next few years it would be desirable if you can bring experience in supporting past infrastructure projects to inform and engage our residents and businesses. This would include experience in consultation and engagement providing regular updates through construction.
Using your knowledge and background as a communications professional, you will identify opportunities to support or deliver campaigns that support the business objectives of the Cycling and Walking team and report success through your ability to analyse and evaluate effectively.
Working as part of a team comes naturally to you and you will work closely across all areas of the Cycling and Walking team and the wider business to identify opportunities to improve documents, the customer experience and develop partnerships with our key stakeholders.
In return for your hard work and commitment, we will reward you with a range of competitive and attractive benefits.
