Who we are

Transport for West Midlands (TfWM) plans, develops and manages an integrated transport system for the West Midlands that is reliable, affordable and accessible for all. It is the transport arm of the West Midlands Combined Authority.

A standard setter in the industry, our achievements are regularly recognised nationally, most importantly as the winner of ‘City Region Authority of the Year’ in 2016, 2017 and 2019 at the National Transport Awards.

About the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games

Birmingham 2022 includes 19 sports, bringing together more than 12,000 athletes, Games Family and international media for 11 days of top-class competition in amazing venues.

The Games is a catalyst for change, helping to deliver a healthier, happier, better connected and more prosperous region for us all. New and upgraded sports facilities, affordable housing and the creation of thousands of volunteer and job opportunities; the Games is a chance to make a real difference to the West Midlands and help us all succeed, not just now, but for years to come.

Transport has an important role to play in making all this happen which is why TfWM in partnership with Birmingham 2022 and local authorities across the West Midlands, is accelerating existing transport improvements and planning to keep everyone moving to support the delivery of a truly unforgettable Games for everyone.

Who we need

Your role will be to provide technical spatial analysis and mapping support for both transport planning purposes and for wider public facing communication outputs. You will be adept in the use of a variety of analytical tools, techniques and methods to ensure that teams can access appropriate, consistent and effective mapping. You will have a passion for clearly communicating information in a geographical format and for bringing clear analytical rigour to help support complex transport planning decisions. The role offers an opportunity to use a wide range of technical tools and to support a wide range of stakeholders in a challenging and fast paced environment.

This is a remote working opportunity until a date is agreed for the WMCA workforce to return to our usual place of work at 16 Summer Lane, Birmingham.
