It’s an exciting time to join the team here at Staffordshire as a Social Worker. We’re currently part way through a transformation project so it’s a great chance to be part of a positive change and to really develop your own career. Plus, we’re a lovely bunch here at Staffordshire, just ask our people. They’ll tell you Staffordshire Council and specifically Children’s Services has a positive culture centred around support for each other. And you’ll agree being supported is particularly important in the work our Social Workers do. We’ve also made the most of flexible and agile working because although we offer great facilities at our offices, we also make sure we provide you with the equipment you need to be able to support our communities from anywhere.
How we work
We are committed to working with partners and families to support our children and young people to be safe and secure, to promote physical and emotional well-being and to help them achieve their full potential within their communities.
As part of our transformation we have embedded a new, restorative practice model which our current staff feel is proving to be very effective. Restorative approaches are widely accepted as being a highly successful way of achieving better outcomes for our children, young people and their families. We want to improve the lives of all children and young people. That’s why we’re using a whole system approach, that enables children to be happy, healthy and safe and we’re supporting families so that children can remain at home wherever possible. We confidently manage risks and are supported to be courageous and ambitious as an organisation.
You’ll be a qualified Social Worker, ideally with a minimum of 12 months post qualification experience and with direct experience working with children and families, you’ll be committed to supporting children to remain with their families wherever possible. You’ll be someone who finds talking to children and their families comes naturally and that you’re able to build relationships with those children and families to be able to work with them effectively. You’ll also be comfortable working with other professionals committed to achieving the best outcomes for our children.
Our people are central to everything we do and so we’ll make sure you’re well supported and given the opportunity to develop and progress. We‘ve also recently launched our new aspiring team managers programme and you can find out more about this and more on our website https://www.childrenssocialcarecareers.co.uk/
