About Us and The Role
The Procurement Team are offering an exciting opportunity as a Contract Governance Officer with responsibility for supporting the People Directorate.
As a Contract Governance Officer, you will work closely with commissioners and managers across the People Directorate service areas of Children and Families, Adult Social Care, Public Health and Strategy & Commissioning. You will also work closely with other members of the Procurement Team and with the Contract Management and Quality Assurance Team.
The key elements of the role are:
- Leading on the monitoring and reporting to senior management within the Directorate of the level of compliance of all their contractual arrangements against the council’s Contract Standing Orders (CSOs) and taking required action to remedy any issues (including management of exemptions).
- Leading on the monitoring and reporting of the current status of existing contracts regarding expected end dates and plans for successive contracts.
- Providing information to support planning future commissioning, procurement and contract management activity.
- Responding to queries regarding contractual arrangements, including queries on specifications.
- Advising on and managing contractual arrangements – such as putting in place spot contracts for care placements, dealing with novation agreements and contract variations.
- Acting as the central point of contact in the Directorate for consultation on general matters relating to contracting and promoting accurate and consistent governance arrangements.
This role would suit someone who is capable of working as part of a team but who can work individually, managing their own workload in order to meet the required deadlines. You will need strong interpersonal skills in order to develop relationships with the various teams and then manage their expectations. You will need to be capable of contributing persuasively to discussions and have good communication skills.
