Cranstoun: Sandwell are launching a brand new Diamorphine Assisted Treatment (DAT) pilot programme for 2021. This is a two year pilot with possible extension and is an exciting opportunity for us to work in a new way with opiate dependant service users. The DAT project will deliver all of our usual offer in addition to daily supervised Diamorphine treatment and associated specialist interventions.

Our skilled and compassionate teams work closely with services users and their families to change and save lives. We combine proven expertise in treatment and recovery with innovative approaches, and actively involve those we help in improving the design of the services we provide.

We are recruiting to some exciting new key roles for the DAT and would love to hear from you if you believe you have the skills and approach required.

Having experience of supporting people with complex health needs including substance misuse, you will bring knowledge and commitment to deliver the range of community models of drug and alcohol treatment. You will have a non-judgemental attitude and a desire to support the lives of our service users to be healthier and safer, by delivering a high quality service.

As an Engagement & Recovery Worker, you will report to the team leader and be part of our wider drug and alcohol service in Sandwell. You will be responsible for delivering all elements of substance misuse work for those service users taking part in the DAT programme including case management, harm reduction, needle exchange, outreach, group work, access and engagement, as well as other associated duties.

You will be committed to the recovery agenda and encouraging clients to utilise their recovery capital within their community. There will be a need to develop effective working relationships with your colleagues, service users and external partner agencies across the borough. The desire to ensure the effective delivery of the Diamorphine Assisted Treatment programme in Sandwell is paramount, and you will need demonstrable skills in safe case management.

If you would like to be part of a dynamic and responsive community team in Sandwell and can bring the skills to be part of a new team we would like to hear from you. There will be a requirement for flexibility and for evening and weekend work on a rota basis, as the DAT programme will be delivered 7 days a week, 365 days a year. This role will be fixed term for an initial two year period.
