Start date:  23rd March or as soon as possible thereafter - temporary to 16th July 2021 in the first instance, with possibility of being extended.

25 hours per week Term Time Only

Role

To be responsible for the planning of and preparation of nutritious, appetising  school meals in line with current Government School Food Standards Guidance and Health and Safety requirements.

To contribute to the ethos of the school by developing and maintaining positive relationships with staff, pupils and visitors.

Accountable to the Headteacher

General Duties

To be responsible for the preparation and serving of food to children and staff ensuring all requirements and record keeping are met in accordance with current Catering Food Safety and  hygiene legislation.

To be responsible for menu planning giving due consideration to nutritional and dietary requirements whilst ensuring that all menus meet the current School Food Standards Guidance.

To maintain a high standard of hygiene and cleaning within the kitchen, food preparation and storage areas.

To be aware of the Health and Safety implications of the role performed and adhere to any requirements of the Group / School Health and Safety and Fire Regulation Policies.

To relate to colleagues, pupils and visitors in a positive and appropriate manner.

To take part in and/or provide relevant training.

To be responsible for the supervision, support and guidance of other staff within the lunchtime period.

To complete and accurately report all required daily, weekly and monthly checks according to guidelines in the Safer Food, Better Business Guidance for Caterers and report any problems.

To take on additional responsibility which may relate to:

  • Purchasing food and equipment
  • A specific requirement of the school e.g. Health & Safety
  • Supervision of pupils

Requirements

Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering

Level 1 Certificate in Food Preparation and Cooking or relevant experience

There is the potential to combine this role with the Breakfast Club Supervisor position which would be 5 hours per week, term time only, 7.50am – 8.50am.

Pendock CE Primary School is committed to safeguarding the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment.  This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and the successful candidate will be required to take a DBS check and a medical check.
