Rights of Way Officer – Fixed term appointment until 30th September 2021

Salary:  £22,911 - £26,317 per annum

37 Hours per week – Temporary Contract

Do you love the countryside and want to help make sure people can get out and safely enjoy Staffordshire’s beautiful landscapes? We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic person to join the Rights of Way Team on a fixed term contract until 30th September 2021.

The Rights of Way team oversees Staffordshire’s public rights of way – an impressive 4500km network of footpaths and bridleways. With recent lockdown measures this network has become a vital resource for our communities and use of the network has soared.

In this temporary role, you will help us to make sure the network is accessible and help inspect and tackle reported issues. You will need to be able to access remote areas beyond the reach of public transport, covering a large area, working alone in all weathers – map-reading skills are essential! You will use your understanding of rights of way and access management to develop solutions, and your excellent interpersonal skills to negotiate and agree their delivery on the ground. You will work closely with landowners, user groups, maintenance and environment teams and contractors to achieve this.

Office work in this contract will largely be undertaken from home but you may be required to work from the Council offices in Stafford at times.

For an informal discussion, please contact Paul Rochfort, Principal Rights of Way Officer, on 07976 191054 or email paul.rochfort@staffordshire.gov.uk

This Authority is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people/vulnerable adults and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. , communities and employees.
