Who we are looking for

We are a forward thinking Autism Specific Specialist Free School with a new and exciting opportunity for a committed and enthusiastic individual to join us as a qualified Teacher of KS3 and KS4 Maths and Science.

We were inspected in November 2017. The School was rated as Good overall, with outstanding in personal development, behaviour and welfare.  The school was also Autism Accredited in January 2019.

Supported by the National Autistic Society Academies Trust and National Autistic Society, we cater for up to 70 students aged 4-19 with Autism and Asperger Syndrome. As a part of the NAS Academies Trust, we have developed significant professional and working partnerships with the already established Independent NAS schools and other NASAT Free Schools, drawing on knowledge and expertise through professional working relationships to ensure best practise is shared.

The post holder will work across KS3 and KS4 in Maths and Science. Experience or knowledge of another foundation subject would be advantageous along with any experience of teaching upper KS2.

We aim to deliver the highest level of education and experiences to ensure the best life chances become a sustainable reality for every young person (on an individual needs led basis). Together, we will create a safe, positive and structured environment in which every young person is respected and encouraged to achieve independence (through academic, employment and personal skills development).

To be considered for this role, you will need to be able to demonstrate a desire for improving pupil outcomes (including those of high aspiration and vision), as well as some specialist ASD knowledge (through experience and/or practice). The right candidate will have a passion for teaching and learning and the skills to engage, inspire and motivate our students to support the school in raising achievement. You will also offer a flexible approach to your role and be confident in delivering the curriculum to a small group and across various levels of academic ability.

•           Teaching Experience in other KS3 foundation subjects and upper KS2 would be advantageous

 

•           Committed to the safeguarding of students

•           Focused on the learning and development of students and encouraging high achieving

•           Enthusiastic, flexible and friendly approach

•           Good understanding of assessing progress of students within a specialist SEN environment

Hours of work

200 days inclusive of 10 non pupil training days (1 week autism specific and 1 week INSET). Normal hours may be varied to meet the changing needs of the school. There may be occasions when additional hours are necessary to meet specific or special requirements.
