Part time - 20 hours per week

Your role will be to work as part of the Income Team within Financial Administration & Support Services.  You will be responsible for providing an efficient and effective income collection service to meet the aims, objectives and needs of Financial Administration and the wider organisation.

You will be required to carry out the following duties:

  • Assist in the recovery of debt to maximise and secure income due to the Council by taking effective and timely recovery action, including issuing claims through the County Courts, referral to enforcement agents and liaising with billing service areas and our Legal Services. 
  • Assist in the accurate and timely management and monitoring of debt, providing advice and information relating to debt recovery and ensuring that non-recoverable debts are written off in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for the effective use of corporate and department systems including ensuring the integrity of data and the production, analysis, monitoring and reconciliation of financial information reports.
  • Assist in providing a cost effective best in class customer focussed service, working with customers to ensure that their needs are met.

To be successful you will have experience of working in a financial administration environment, together with possession of a qualification in business and finance at NVQ level 3 or equivalent.

This is a customer facing role and as such you will be expected to communicate verbally and deal effectively with enquiries from all sources, taking appropriate action to resolve queries where necessary and preparing correspondence as appropriate. This post is covered by the Government’s Code of Practice on the English Language Fluency Duty for public sector workers.

For this role the successful candidate must undergo a Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check.  BPSS is the minimum standard to ensure the identify and integrity of an employee who has access to official information using secure networks linking central governments and local authorities.  A BPSS check involves four main elements; Identity Check, National and Immigration Status, Employment History (last 3 years) and Verification of Criminal Record (unspent convictions only).
