Who we need

You are likely to be a curious and creative individual with a head for using data and intelligence as well as your own skilled instinct to influence travel habits at scale. You will enjoy drawing together theories of change and evidence of behavioural change across wide-reaching programmes in the region of £1 million in value.

You will thrive on leading industry practice with the latest TfWM travel segmentation and travel personas and a new framework of expert suppliers at your fingertips. Your ability to build strong relationships will come to the fore in dealing with multiple priorities and building consensus from different stakeholder perspectives.

You will feel comfortable working on your own initiative in a fast-paced environment and have the ability to effectively prioritise, make effective decisions and stay calm under pressure. Your ability to focus on writing concise reports is critical, as is using spreadsheets and analysis of quantities of data and intelligence.

Cycling and Walking

The West Midlands cycling and walking network will see significant investment over the next few years and will benefit from historic levels of funding, helping to create a place that is fit for the future, safe, green and connected.

TfWM will ensure cycling and walking are the optimal travel choices for transport and for leisure. Our aim is to make the whole of the West Midlands healthier, happier, better connected and more prosperous by creating attractive urban environments in city and town centres, along key transport corridors and within our suburbs. Our ambitious plans include improved infrastructure for cyclists and pedestrians, as well as delivering supporting activities such as training and campaigns.



About the team

You will report to the Head of Demand Management as project sponsor for the West Midlands Active Travel Fund regional ‘supporting measures’ scheme. This is an exciting time to join the TfWM Network Resilience directorate, which is shaping its response to meet future transport challenges. Your work programme will largely be defined by colleagues in TfWM teams working on regional supporting measures to active new cycling and walking infrastructure and the seven West Midlands local authorities.

This is a remote working opportunity until a date is agreed for the WMCA workforce to return to our usual place of work at 16 Summer Lane, Birmingham.
