Please note: This is a fixed term contract and is an internal opportunity only

We would like to extend this opportunity to the seven Local Authorities in the West Midlands

Who we need

This is an exciting role for a leader with a passion for overseeing delivery of complex projects that will benefit the people of the West Midlands. The role is to lead, manage and deliver an ambitious regional programme of active travel projects, delivering new infrastructure and changing human behaviour.

You are likely to be a strong self-starter and be comfortable in making rapid decisions to move projects forward proactively. You will be used to handling data on budgets, spatial mapping and survey results in order to draw together concise briefings and reports for audiences such as the Strategic Transport Officers Group and the Mayor of the West Midlands, as well as Department for Transport.

You will lead delivery of the high-profile West Midlands Active Travel Fund programme. This includes one of the highest allocations of capital funding and most ambitious scale of behavioural change projects to activate it in the country. You will bring experience of operating at a senior level and on leading projects of a similar scale circa £13 million.

You will establish the needs and requirements of partners, including departments in in TfWM and seven West Midlands local authorities and be able to manage conflicting priorities and competing needs for your time. In delivering the regional supporting measures, you will liaise with around 15 partners and suppliers, ensuring their adherence to our campaign brand and that regular monitoring information is received.

You will manage and evaluate the project to ensure that agreed outputs and outcomes are delivered and are within budget and lead on reporting and bringing the project to a successful close.

In return for your hard work and commitment, we will reward you with a range of competitive and attractive benefits.

Cycling and Walking Team

The West Midlands cycling and walking network will see significant investment over the next few years and will benefit from historic levels of funding, helping to create a place that is fit for the future, safe, green and connected.

TfWM will ensure cycling and walking are the optimal travel choices for transport and for leisure. Our aim is to make the whole of the West Midlands healthier, happier, better connected and more prosperous by creating attractive urban environments in city and town centres, along key transport corridors and within our suburbs. Our ambitious plans include improved infrastructure for cyclists and pedestrians, as well as delivering supporting activities such as training and campaigns.
