An opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated Occupational Therapist with relevant Housing knowledge and experience of working with vulnerable people who either may:

A) have a mobility difficulty or physical disability which limits the individual maximising their independence or

B) lack the provision of suitable aids, adaptations or equipment.

You will work as part of a team and on your own initiative and have close working practices with the Floating Support & Vulnerable People Housing Service.

Your role would include ensuring that available adapted properties are allocated effectively to people with a physical disability; you will also make links and work in partnership with housing employees and outside agencies, to offer housing solutions for individual applicants.

The successful candidate will respond to requests for an Occupational Therapist assessment for applicants with disabilities in need of suitable housing and will explore and advise on housing options for people with a physical disability to achieve independent living.

Your sound understanding of working with people who have complex physical disabilities as well as your clinical skills knowledge of specific aids, moving & handling and adaptations will help the successful individual in this exciting role.

You will need to have proven skills to assess and advise on the provision of equipment and adaptations and recommend property types where suitable adaptations can be achieved and ensure that available adapted properties are allocated in accordance with an individual’s needs; making recommendations based on need to meet the individuals long-term housing requirements.

There will be the opportunity to liaise work alongside and share with other Occupational Therapists within the Therapy and Sensory Team within Adult Social Care

It is essential that you are registered with the HCPC and you must hold a Diploma of BSC in Occupational Therapy, or Degree in Occupational Therapy (or equivalent).

An enhanced DBS check is required for this role.

Hours 

37 hours per week - Job share will also be considered on an 18.5 hours basis.
