An exciting new opportunity has arisen within one of the UK’s largest pension funds to lead and develop staff and business processes and play a key role in supporting members.
The West Midlands Pension Fund is one of the largest UK pension funds, ranking fourth in size across the Local Government Pension Scheme. Administered by City of Wolverhampton Council, it has a historic place within the region in supporting its partner councils across the West Midlands.
The Fund manages and administers the pension benefits of over 330,000 members across more than 700 employers – with Benefit Operations a core function and central to its ability to provide a high quality service its customers, which is demonstrated through the achievement of Pension Administration Standards Association Accreditation, Customer Service Excellence and Investors In People Gold.
Alongside a permanent role which will be required to manage the business as usual benefit operations team, a new fixed term role has also been created to support on a key legislative rectification project.
Key responsibilities will include;
- To manage the statistical analysis and the management of the team’s workload against key KPI’s and the service areas overall business plan, utilising reports to review trends and forward plan resourcing and team targets
- Day to day management, direction and coaching of all team members performance ensuring continued development of staff against key skills matrix and competencies.
- Drive continual review of processes to enable continual improvement and support the objective of ‘administration by exception’.
- Ensure the effective implementation of new business as usual processes, ensuring the training and development of staff, development of process manuals and communication across the whole Fund.
The ideal candidate will be a highly organised, flexible and inspiring person who works well under pressure. They must have significant pension’s knowledge and experience and be able to demonstrate the ability to lead a team to success.
