Walsall Finance are recruiting!

Finance Business Partner (various roles) - Ref: RT66620
Salary:  G10 (SCP 34-39) - £37,516 - £42,398 per annum

A number of permanent and fixed term contracts available to:

  • Support to our key services across the Councils Directorates
  • Focus support to the Councils Capital Programme
  • Focus support to the Councils Transformation programme on commercialisation

This is an exciting time to join our team.

Walsall Council is transforming its services, leading to some excellent opportunities for driven, ambitious and experienced finance professionals who are looking to take that next step on their career.

The Transformation Programme is closely linked with our ambitious medium-term financial strategy and Walsall’s Financial Services are a key driver in helping achieve the organisations aspirational vision. As such we have a number of posts to recruit to within the Finance Business Partnering team.

All posts are our key finance links to the services we support. They are there to provide solutions, insight and advice to both support and constructively challenge services to help achieve their objectives, whilst underpinned by strong financial management. A can-do attitude, experience in supporting large, complex services and an ability to appropriately articulate financial information to a range of stakeholders are all crucial to these roles.

As well as roles to support key services across the Councils Directorates, we are also looking to bring in Finance Business Partners with more specialised knowledge in specific areas. On Capital, we are developing a new finance team to help provide focus and support on the Councils extensive capital programme and the financial complexities surrounding this. We are therefore looking for financial expertise in this area.

We are also as part of our Transformation Programme, looking for individuals with experience on areas of cross-cutting income generation including commercial ventures, partnership working and traded income models. Again, if you feel you can bring these skills to our team, we want to hear from you.

What does Walsall’s Finance Service offer you?

Our commitment to you is to provide a safe learning environment, where we will offer you the platform to develop and enhance your career prospects, with the aim to support your drive and commitment to progress and build on your existing experience.  The diverse services that we support and the progression of our transformation programme, brings with it exposure to many scenarios requiring financial support and advice. You can therefore expect opportunities to get involved and strengthen both your accountancy knowledge and your broader skillsets, enabling you to adapt to an ever changing business environment and support the many challenges public sector organisations face.

As a Finance Business Partner you should hold a CCAB/CIMA body and undertaking active CPD, or actively studying for a CCAB/CIMA qualification and be able to demonstrate experience of providing excellent business partnering and customer services. Whist an understanding of local government finance would be an advantage, it is not essential.

On top of this, if you are not currently fully qualified but actively studying, we provide opportunities to continue a funded CCAB qualification, provide an attractive employment package that includes a generous annual leave entitlement of up to 33 days, a flexible working scheme that allows up to a further 12 days leave per year, working from home opportunities with emphasis on an optimum work life balance arrangement and a career average pension scheme.

These posts are covered by the Government’s Code of Practice on the English Language Fluency Duty for public sector workers.
