An opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified, enthusiastic and committed Climate Change and Adaptation Officer to join our Environmental Health Team.



This post will concentrate on climate change mitigation and adaptation and other sustainability projects. You will work with internal colleagues, partner organisations and community groups on the development, delivery and promotion of the Council’s Climate Change objectives, strategies and associated work relating to climate change.

The role will provide professional and technical advice on environmental management and best practice to the Authority, colleagues, partners and the community on a wide range of issues relating to climate change, sustainability and the environment.

You will also devise and implement awareness and engagement campaigns, working with communications colleagues to publicise the Council’s aims, initiatives and achievements through a wide range of communications media and channels. This will include designing and delivering a range of relevant presentations, training sessions and seminars to educate and promote actions in the wider community to address the climate change emergency and other related issues.

 



You must have experience of climate change and carbon reduction along with experience of developing, implementing, monitoring and reviewing policies, procedures or action plans.

You must hold a degree in Environmental Management or a related subject. 

 

 



The successful applicant will be able to work both autonomously and as part of a team, possessing excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to analyse and interpret legislation and enforce it in a balanced way. You will also have the ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.

 



This is a part time role, the hours of work are 18.5 hours per week and appointment is offered on a 3 year fixed term contract.  In addition to a competitive salary, we offer flexible working hours and a Car Necessity Scheme.
