Consultant in Public Health

Permanent post up to 35 hours per week. Salary will be £75,914 (including market forces) on Worcestershire County Council terms and conditions, with the successful applicant having the option to remain in the NHS pension scheme or join the Local Government Pension scheme.

This is an exciting opportunity to join Worcestershire County Council - the challenges of health inequalities, service delivery, and improving health outcomes have never been greater, along with the current challenge of responding to COVID-19.  We are looking for a Consultant in Public Health who will report directly to the DPH as part of an enthusiastic Public Health Team.  We are looking to attract a consultant who is a strong team player who is able to bring strong commitment to excellence and partnership working.

You will hold a leadership role within the Council and will work effectively across teams and organizations to shape impact on health and well-being outcomes across the system.  You will also be a system leader, making a significant contribution to transformational work with senior partners across Worcestershire in order to improve the health and well-being of our residents.  Although all public health consultants are generalists, you will lead on specific portfolios of work. We are seeking a candidate with specific interests and experience of health improvement to lead on this within the Empowering People portfolio which includes primary and secondary prevention.

You will also be required to deputise for the Director as required, and to have a role in training and developing the workforce at all levels of public health qualification and ability.

Being on or being within 6 months of eligibility (if a specialty registrar) of admission to the GMC/GDC Specialist Register/UK Voluntary Register for Public Health Specialists is an essential requirement.

For an informal discussion about this role please contact Dr Kathryn Cobain, Director of Public Health on 01905 845863 or Natasha Sheen, PA to Director of Public Health on 01905 844823.

Interview date: 30/04/2021
