This is an exciting opportunity to join one our neighbourhood services teams as a Grade 3 Neighbourhood Caretaker. If you are someone who wants to maintain and improve the local environment this should interest you. This role is about taking responsibility for and making a positive contribution to the cleansing, health and safety, maintenance and appearance in and around the communal areas of flatted accommodation and the wider housing neighbourhood.

You will have responsibility for supervising estate-based staff who undertake cleaning, maintenance and health and safety inspections in and around flatted accommodation.

You will need to work with closely and constructively with tenants, residents, colleagues, contractors, BCC directorates, such as Parks & Waste Management, so that our neighbourhoods are maintained or improved to a good environmental standard. This will include carrying out inspections and liaising with BCC colleagues or other organisations where performance is unsatisfactory. This type of work will include you carrying out sustainable environmental improvement works to blighted housing sites and engaging and educating tenants/residents as to their responsibilities with regard to environmental cleanliness.

Working sometimes on your own and sometimes as part of a team your supervisor will be a Grade 4 Neighbourhood Services Housing Officer. This is the public facing service of housing management so you need excellent communication skills as you will be working in and around neighbourhoods on a daily basis problem solving and interacting with tenants.

A driving licence is required as you the role will include undertaking environmental improvement and rubbish removal activity and disposal works across housing neighbourhoods. Attending training sessions for the role is mandatory.
