At Elmfield Rudolf Steiner School our Learning Support Team is growing!

Do you have experience working with children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)? Are you a Learning Support Assistant who would like to join our community at Elmfield and have the opportunity to work in a Steiner Waldorf school?

We are looking for experienced Learning Support Assistants.

We are looking for individuals with skills and experience supporting children with specific learning difficulties (dyslexic-type difficulties) and processing difficulties to support children in their access to the curriculum and academic progress.

We are also seeking individuals who have the right skillset to work with students with emotional needs stemming from anxiety, attachment difficulties and trauma. The positions are working with students from lower secondary age.

You will be responsible for applying agreed strategies, maintaining records and updating our SENDCo with progress. There will be regular one-to-one work with students, often with a particular student whose needs are laid out in an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). As well as supporting identified children within the classroom, you will be expected to join in and contribute to classroom activities with all children when appropriate.

You will need to be a team player and should be prepared to independently research relevant conditions and attend relevant training to support existing knowledge and experience. A key requirement is the ability to see well beyond simply providing help, focusing more on enabling independent learning and progress.

It is important to note that this post is dependent on the continuation of EHCP funding from the Local Authority. Should the LA funding cease, the post may ultimately be terminated if it is not possible to redeploy the jobholder.

We are committed to equal opportunities and welcome applications from individuals from all backgrounds.

We may close the application process earlier depending on the volume of applications received.

We are committed to safeguarding children and expect all applicants to share this commitment. We follow safer recruitment procedures and any post is subject to background checks, including references and enhanced DBS disclosure.
