This is a new role in ICT and it’s also a very exciting time to join our team as the Walsall Proud Programme is well underway and ICT underpins the transformation of services with a programme of work known as Enabling Technology.
If you have vast experience and knowledge of managing ICT Budgets, Contracts and Suppliers and would like to join a team where change and opportunity is part of every working day then this may be the role for you.
The successful applicant will help to develop ICTs long term approach to budget management, contract management and supplier management whilst also ensuring that processes are put in place so that the Council understands the true cost and value of ICT across the organisation.
Not only will you be managing ICTs revenue and capital budgets in line with the Council’s Finance Rules you will be building business cases for future investment and ensuring that ICT meet targets related to efficiencies and value for money.
You will be working with ICT business partners and business areas throughout the council to understand their ICT contracts and budgets with a view to centralising them and you will also be working with corporate procurement to ensure that any contract terminations, renewals and new contracts are entered into in compliantly.
To be successful in this role you will need to have a broad understanding of IT Service Management; including how technical operations are carried out, the impact of implementing new technology and how technology enables the council to deliver its services to citizens.
This post is covered by the Government’s Code of Practice on the English Language Fluency Duty for public sector workers. The post holder will be required to communicate verbally with customers and provide advice and/or information in accurate spoken English.
