St John's CE Primary School is an exciting and vibrant two form entry Church School with a rich Christian ethos, serving a predominantly Muslim community, with an outstanding quality of education. We are seeking an Assistant Headteacher who will be responsible for leading and developing our excellent SEND provision. The role is an exciting opportunity for anyone who wants to improve outcomes for children with SEND and their families.

The role will include:

  • teaching sessions with children with complex SEND in our Learning Hub
  • developing and maintaining relationships with outside agencies
  • leading a team of Inclusion Support Assistants
  • running parent support groups, and developing the staff’s knowledge and skills so that they are able to meet the needs of all children within their classrooms

You will need to be able to inspire and motivate a team of people, develop positive relationships with parents and carers, and maintain and further develop our ethos of inclusion and equality for all. You will require high levels of knowledge about a range of special educational needs and disabilities and the ability to put this knowledge into practise. You will need to be excellent at prioritising tasks, organising paperwork and relentlessly pursuing SENAR! You will need to have a good working knowledge of the data across the school, in particular the data for children with SEND, and use this to shape provision effectively. You will work as part of the leadership team to shape and implement the vision for the next phase of the St John's journey; to give every child a truly inspirational educational experience, within a strong Christian framework.
