Trading Standards Officer - Job Role to include EU Exit Business Advice

Salary:  Grade 10: £37,890 - £41,881 per annum

1 Post - 37 hours per week – Fixed Term (6 months from date of appointment)

Trading Standards Officer

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Trading Standards Officer to join our high quality, professional Trading Standards team at Staffordshire County Council. Joining our newly re-structured service, you will be helping us focus on delivering the most effective service for Staffordshire’s residents and businesses and embracing intelligence led activity within a flexible workspace.

Staffordshire County Council’s vision is for a connected Staffordshire, where everyone can prosper, be healthy and happy.  We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, highly competent Trading Standards Officer to support the team in protecting Staffordshire’s residents and promoting a safe and fair-trading environment across Staffordshire.

We enforce a wide range of legislation relating to the supply and distribution of goods and services whilst providing consumer protection for our residents, with a strong focus on ensuring our most vulnerable have a safe, healthy, and financially secure environment.

Applications are invited from qualified and experienced officers, with a professional interest in EU exit and transition to undertake this role within our Business Support Team. The role will include taking the lead on initiatives surrounding the EU exit and transition requirements, advising businesses on legislative requirements, conducting market surveillance, engaging with internal and external partners, and delivering training to colleagues and interested parties.

The successful candidate will be extremely self-motivated skilled in managing competing workloads and demands and have excellent communication skills.

Please note that some working outside of normal hours is expected and the postholder may be expected to share in a 24-hour emergency call-out rota
