An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented teacher to join our College. Leadership and management

You will work closely with colleagues and managers to ensure that the curriculum across the three Pathways at the College are in line with a range of internal and external stakeholder needs, to deliver an offer that is relevant and meets the needs of students preparing to transition into adulthood.

Quality of Education

You will have experience within a Special Education school or college. You should be able to demonstrate an approach to curriculum, teaching and learning that is exciting and innovative while also meeting the needs of our students. At Newfriars College we offer a broad curriculum of accredited courses including AS, GCSE, BTEC, NCFE as well as our innovative College ‘Step Up’ Qualification programme which is validated and celebrated through use of the ‘Evidence for Learning’ progress tracker app and ‘Levels of Engagement’ model.

Innovative and Rich Curriculum

We pride ourselves on providing a practical, skills based, personalised curriculum offer for all of our students across our three pathways to ensure we support the breadth of the learners at the College. We work collaboratively with our local community and the role will require proactive parental engagement. Our rich curriculum offer is outwards facing actively engaging our learners with their community. Learners benefit from an internal and external work experience and learning contextualised to real-life contexts.  Our curriculum offer embeds additional therapies, assistive technologies and a total communication approach to meet the individual needs of our young people.

Newfriars College is a Specialist FE College with 175+ students aged between 16 and 25 who have a range of Special Educational Needs. Every student is in receipt of an EHCP. Applications from teachers who have knowledge of Specialist Communication including PECs, Makaton, AAC and Assistive technology are particularly welcomed
