Our team
We have a great opportunity to join the Codsall Safeguarding Team as a Social Worker. We’re a great team and many of us have worked here at Codsall for a long time. We stay because we feel supported by our colleagues, we feel empowered to do our very best and we know the work we do really makes a difference to our community.
Our approach
In Staffordshire, we have embedded a new restorative practice model. We want to improve the lives of all children and young people, using a whole system approach enabling children to be happy, healthy and safe. And we do this by supporting families to enable children to remain at home wherever possible. We confidently manage risks and are supported to be courageous and ambitious as an organisation. Restorative approaches are widely accepted as a highly effective way of achieving better outcomes for children, young people and their families.
What you’ll do
As a qualified Social Worker, with a minimum of 2 years post qualification experience you’ll have experience working with children and families and you’ll be committed to supporting children to remain with their families. Your involvement will be as a short-term intervention and so you’ll do the initial enquiries, visits and assessments You’ll be involved in completing section 47 enquiries, direct work with children and will include initiating care proceedings work and some work with looked after children. You will have input in formulating Child In Need plans and Child Protection planning
What you’ll have:
You’ll be a great communicator so building those key relationships with children, families and other professionals will come naturally to you. You’ll also be committed to striving for the best outcomes for children. We work using a restorative practice model so it would be great if you have experience of this but if you don’t, we’ll train you in this approach.
As this position also fulfils the role within the duty hub you’ll also need:
· A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a qualified Social Worker
· Have safeguarding experience, including taking initial visits following referral and section 47 enquiry investigations up to ICPC and CSWA’s
The Duty Hub is part of a safeguarding team that support children and families on Child in Need and Child Protection Plans, through PLO and initiation of public proceedings so you’ll also need:
· Experience supporting and completing reports for private law proceedings.
How we’ll support you:

That’s why we offer an excellent staff development programme including a new aspiring team managers programme and we support colleagues through regular supervision including ¼ Group Supervision.
