Housing Assessment Officers (HEART)

The job is based at the forefront of the inter-agency team within the Home Improvement and Adaptations Services – bringing together both Housing and Occupational Therapy based roles to deliver for our older, disabled or vulnerably customers. There are 3 roles available as detailed below.
1 x Part-time role working 14.8 hours per week (based at Nuneaton - North), working pattern to be agreed on with successful applicant.
1x Full-time position working 37 hours per week (based at Nuneaton - North)
1x Full-time position working 37 hours per week (based at Leamington - South)
The role involves both telephone enquiries and face to face visits to assess clients needs and their homes for relevant services, improvements and adaptations to enable them to make the right housing choices and support their independence in their homes.
It is managed within a multi agency team involving employees from Nuneaton and Bedworth, North Warwickshire and Warwickshire Councils and also includes the Rugby area. There is a counterpart service being developed in the south of Warwickshire.
Services delivered directly by the team include aids and minor adaptations, large adaptations include level access showers and stair lifts, repairs to houses and slips, trips and falls prevention.
Officers are expected to provide a service for customers from start to finish working with suppliers and contractors and carrying out financial and criteria assessments to ensure access to appropriate services.
Demonstrates experience of involvement with a range of people with a variety of needs relating to housing and disabilities.
Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively both verbally (in person and by telephone) and in writing.
Good operational ability with information technology, able to use email, Office programmes, and tablet computers.
Numerate and able to understand financial information regarding income, expenditure and quotations and VAT exclusions.
Holding an NVQ, or BTEC or equivalent relevant qualification or experience in health, social care or housing.
Able to deal with emotional demands caused by assisting vulnerable and disabled customers through reflective practice and effective use of supervision.
