Cannock Chase Council currently manages a housing portfolio of approximately 5,300 properties and is proud to deliver both a new build programme together with a planned investment programme of over £8m to repair and improve existing housing stock in order to improve the service quality and outcomes for our residents.
This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and focused individual to join our developing and ambitious Housing Property Services Section as a Compliance Officer. This is a relatively new post within the team so the successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop the role and make it their own.
You will assist the Compliance Manager in ensuring compliance is maintained in Asbestos management, Fire safety and Legionella risk management. The successful post holder will play an important role in helping the team achieve compliance so we are looking for someone with a real passion for keeping our tenants safe in their homes. You will also have a good eye for detail, be able to work under pressure and always endeavour to achieve a quality service.
It is essential you have significant experience in the building industry working with Asbestos as either an Asbestos surveyor or within the Asbestos management industry, preferably with one of either the P402 Surveying and Sampling Strategies for Asbestos in Buildings qualification (or similar approved) or a P405 Management of Asbestos in Buildings qualification (or similar approved). Ideally you will also have experience within a social housing environment and preferably have a formal qualification in water hygiene management and/or fire safety within buildings however training can be provided to the right candidate.
You will be capable of effective communication with people at all levels both externally and within the organisation. You will have good IT skills with a proven ability to develop software to improve effective working methods and be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office packages in your day to day work.
